Arrival- Welcome to Tanzania

Arrive at the Kilimanjaro International Airport, meet and greet with your driver, a short brief and later drive to Arusha city. 

After checking in your rooms, you driver guide will sit down with you for trip briefing and plan for tomorrow.

Dinner/Overnight.  Ilboru safari Lodge.

Safari day 1: Tarangire  National Park.

Early morning after breakfast, Drive to Tarangire National Park with picnic lunch for full day game drive, to see the big herds of Elephants along Tarangire River which never runs dry all year round. Later in the evening you will drive to Manyara Serena Lodge.

 Dinner/Overnight: Manyara Serena Lodge. 

Safari day 2: Ngorongoro Crater

Right after breakfast, you will depart to Ngorongoro Crater, an amazing ecosystem with a variety of resident and migratory animals. In the Crater, you will get to see a few remained black Rhinos in East Africa. Park rules limit time in the Crater to 6 hours, so if the rangers are enforcing it you will need to abide by the rule. Later in the evening, you will drive to Serengeti National Park.

 Dinner/Overnight: Serengeti Serena Lodge.

Safari day 3: Serengeti National Park.

Today, I will suggest an early morning game drive so that you can enjoy the sunrise. In general, animals are very active in the morning, and more hunting actions happen in the morning hours or late evening /night. Your guide should discuss this option the night before and decide whether you will take breakfast box or return to  early for Branch. A hot lunch in a hotel  will be a wise choice so the kid/son  have some time off the car and relax. Evening game drive is an optional.

Second option for this day: This will depend with how you feel and the  game/ animal migrations is best reported, you could take lunch boxes with you and set out on a full day excursion to farther areas of the Serengeti.

Safari day 4. Olduvai George/Endulen Village

Today you will leave Serengeti early after breakfast and stop by the olduvai Museum. This is where the origin of the first man Kind was discovered by Dr. Leakey and Mary Leakey, and  is one of the most important paleoanthropological sites in the world; it has proven invaluable in furthering understanding of early human evolution.At Olduvai, there is a lot of excavations and studies going on and a short lecture about the area and discoveries will be given.  Depend with time, but this will be the best area to have lunch. 

After the lecture and Lunch, you will proceed to Enduleni village which is located on south-western side of the Ngorongoro Highland where You have some options: 

1.Expreience a  Maasai tradition ceremony and ritual activities will be practiced to promote young warrior to the next Age set. This is well respected and well attended ceremony for the maasai people as it only happen once a year. 

2.Visit a maasai school (Orphanage school or public school) Here you will meet maasai girls who escaped the early marriage and found themselves in schools. 

3. Atend and experience a Maasai wedding ceremony

4. Visit a local hospital

Safari day 5: Ngorongoro/Lake Eyas

Today,you will  visit a Masai Boma within Ngorongoro,in the morning. In the afternoon, after lunch you will drive to Lake Eyasi. A home to the Hadzabe bushmen, Lake Eyasi is one of the few places remaining in Africa where tribal life is still maintained relatively untouched by the development of the region. The Hadzabe people have called Lake Eyasi home for more than 10,000 years, and still retain their hunter gatherer lifestyle; making them one of the last bastions of ancient African tribal life. A visit to the Hadzabe lands offers a unique and unforgettable glimpse into an ancient culture. This is the only place to find Bushmen a Tsar family of the Sahara Desert who moved to south Africa, but few remained in Tanzania practicing Hunting and gathering and now live at Lake Eyasi.

Safari day 6: Lake Eyas

If interested, spend a day in lake Eyas, go hunting with the Bushmen, and learn their way of living, for full day.

Safari day 7: Lake  Eyas, &Meserani Snake Park/Or Mto wa Mmbu 

Today, you can choose to sleep in a little as before your journey back to Arusha starts. Or you can opt to visit A Traditional Healer of the Bushmen to their medications and the way of treating their community. Later after lunch , Drive to Moshi Kilimanjaro Option:  On your way back, a village tour around mto wa mbu village will be a great choice before you continue to Arusha.

Option: Meserani Snake Park stop over; this can be fascinating to the kid if he like reptiles then souvenir shopping in Arusha town.

 Dinner/Overnight at Mount Meru Game Lodge. 

 Safari Day 8: Mt. Kilimanjaro Day hike.

Right after Breakfast, you will drive for about 2 hours to Londorosi gate . After signing in, you will drive for another 45 minutes to Morum gate ( 11400ftAsl)  where your Hiking and discovery will begin toward Shira Plateau The scenic is magnificent and this is the best level to see the top of Kilimanjaro. Shira is among of the three instinct volcanic peaks that together makes Mt. Kilimanjaro.  At this level you will spend time in the moor land vegetation zone which is among of the five vegetation zones that covers Mount Kilimanjaro. Hiking time, 3-4 hours.

Please wear hiking shoes or just comfortable tennis shows , Sun huts, sun lotions and sun glasses. Also, do not forget your rain gears top and bottom because the weather is very unpredictable. A small day pack will be very helpful for you.  Also, pack some snack for you to munch on during the Hike. A bottle of water will be providing.

Day 9. Departure for Zanzibar.

Option 1:In the morning you will opt to go to the City Market for souvenir before driving to the Airport to catch a flight to Zanzibar:

Option 2: Go to Zanzibar through road transport to Dar es Salaam City. Spent a night in Dar es salaam, take a boat/ferry to Zanzibar or flight. 

Option 3: Leave early in Arusha by flight,Spend a day in Dar,some kids activities in Funcity(Kigamboni)

Dinner/Overnight: Zanzibar Hotel at Dongwe beach.

Day 10 Zanzibar

Early morning after breakfast , Go visit Jozani Forest to see the rare Red Colobus monkeys, with a local guide get to be told the History of Zanzibar, later in the evening Back to Dongwe beach hotel

 Day 11 Zanzibar

Morning after breakfast, drive to Nungwi at Mnarani Conservation pond, turtles that are caught in nets etc. are brought here to recover and then to be set free into the wild again, the only place in Zanzibar where you can Swim with Turtles. 

Dinner : Overnight at Smile Beach Hotel

 Day 12 Zanzibar

At Nungwi you have a full day swimming and relaxing at the Beach.

 Day 13: Zanzibar 

In the morning beach walking at Nungwi until lunch hour, later drive to Stone Town Hotel for relaxing in the Heart of Zanzibar.

 Day 14: Zanzibar /Departure

After breakfast, Explore Stone Town, the atmospheric cultural and historical heart of the Zanzibar city, you may opt to go shopping to the Narrow shops in the Narrow streets of this Old Arabs town, later in the evening drive to the Airport to catch a domestic flight to take you where you will catch your International Flight Back home.

9 Days-Serengeti NP***Ngorongoro Crater**-Manyara NP & Kilimanjaro Hike

Safari Day 1 –Arrival- Isabenia border Welcome to Tanzania

Our  driver Guide will meet You  at Isebania border , and change vehicle. Your journey to Serengeti will begin toward north western Serengeti ( Kogatende ). Enter Serengeti through the western side with picnic lunch, game drive on the way leading to the camp. Dinner & overnight at Nyikani Camp & Lodge

Safari day 2: Serengeti National Park: Nyikani Camp & Lodge

Today, I will suggest an early morning game drive so that you can enjoy the sunrise. In general, animals are very active in the morning, and more hunting actions happen in the morning hours or late evening /night. Your guide should discuss this option the night before and decide whether you will take breakfast box or return to  early for Branch. A hot lunch in camp will be a wise choice so the kids have some time off the car and relax. Evening game drive is an optional.

Second option for this day: This will depend with how the whole group feel and the  game/ animal migrations is best reported, you could take lunch boxes with you and set out on a full day excursion to farther areas of the Serengeti.

Safari day 3 : Serengeti Central : Mikese Camp

Full day Game drive from Western Serengeti to Seronera which is in the Central Serengeti. Along the way, you will pass by Retima Hippo pool, Where hippos and crocodile can be seen. Central Serengeti has different Habitats; this is an area where, if you are lucky enough, you will see Leopard around the forest.

 Safari day 6: Lake Manyara National Park

After breakfast, you will depart to Lake Manyara National Park and enjoy your last game drive in this beautiful park. Lake Manyara is well known for its tree climbing lion and bird life. The park extends about 330Km sq of the Nothern Great Rift Valley and it is right next to Mto wa mbu “Mosquito creek village” of which this little village can be identified as the most colorful village because of its painting art work.

Safari day 7: Lake  Manyara National Park &Meserani Snake Park/Or Orphanage center

Today, you can choose to sleep it a little as before your journey back to Arusha starts. On your way back, a village tour around mto wa mbu village will be a great choice before you continue to Arusha.

 Option: Meserani Snake Park stop over, this can be fascinating to the kids if they like reptiles then souvenir shopping in Arusha town.

Overnight: Mount Meru Game Lodge

Safari Day 8: Mt. Kilimanjaro Day hike.

Today, after breakfast,you will be driving to Endulen village for cultural experiences. You will visit really maasai bomas,and have experience with them. 

OPTIONS: 

  1. Attend and experience a local Maasai wedding in really Maasai traditional Bomas -exteremly beautiful 

2. Attend and experience a  Maasai Ritual ceremony  known as “ Orkiteng Lor Bar” which means moving to another age set. A cow has to be slaughtered,A Man’s wife has to sit on top of a cow’s intestine to ensure to her husband that she did not engage (cheat) to him with other men younger or older  than her husband. Very interesting event.

Safari day 4. Endulen Village

Today you will have some rest ,not leaving early in the morning. After breakfast,you will be picked up to go around local village school for a visit. You will meet students and have some chats(option) Your guide will discuss with you your preferences on the day-staying in the school and play /teach/talk with students;

Here are options; you can choose a schools with orphanage children or a normal government school.( Here you will meet maasai girls who escaped the early marriage and found themselves in schools) 

Later in the day ,you can choose to visit a local hospital or work around the village and meet some locals.

DAY 1 Airport pick-up- Drop off at Hotel

You will be picked up by the staff of Wild Touch Adventures from Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and driven to your accommodation in Arusha. Participants will be given a short briefing for the climb the next day. Kits and the necessary equipment will be checked as well.

DAY 2 Arusha- Machame Hut Camp (10, 000′)

After breakfast, we will pick you up from your Hotel in Arusha and drive for 1 hour to Machame gate (10,000 ft) for registration. Here you will meet the rest of the crew (Cooks and Porters) and we shall all prepare for the climb. We will start the climb through rain forest and the giant heathers for 6 hrs. until we reach our first overnight camp.

DAY 3 Shira Camp (12, 480′)

This will be a short day but rather a steep rocky and dusty trails. It’s a slow hike with plenty of breaks and enough time to acclimatize. Most of the route is rather bare of vegetation providing little shade from heat. You will cross many ridges and see the first of many Senecias.

DAY 4 Barranco Camp (13, 000′)

We will start climbing over boulders and very few rocks, then make our way to a steady uphill climb to Lava tower and there we stop for lunch around noon. For those interested, we may climb up the Lava tower, which is 14850ft (you may start to get a mild headache due to altitude change). From Lava tower we will go down for about 2 hrs through dusty and rocky trails to the Barranco Camp at 13000ft.

DAY 5 Karanga Valley Camp (13, 450′)

We start scrambling up the Barranco wall for an hour and half. As this is steep, you will be using your hands to reach and steady yourself like rock climbing, although not as challenging. At the top of the wall you can see the Barranco valley and the campsite you spent at the night before. You will walk up and down the greener valley, which is the last water point to the mountain.

DAY 6 Barafu Hut Camp (14, 200′)

This will be a short but steep uphill climb across barren landscape with lots of boulders and shattered rocks. You will see the decken glaciers on your left. We will keep going through a very steep ridge until we reach a rocky section for more scrambling, which will last for about an 1.5 hrs. Our next camp will be on large rocks with very steep cliff faces. We will cap off the night early as we need to wake up at 11:00 pm for the summit.

DAY 7 Summit Day and Mweka Hut (10, 500′)

We will start the climb at around midnight. We will start with very steep rocks for 1 hour, and enter a snow-covered area where you can see glaciers above. If it’s a moonlit night, you may turn off your headlamp and continue a moon lit guided walk; indeed a wonderful experience. The next 2 hours is headed towards Stella Point and we will take a break every 15 minutes as the climb gets more mentally and physically challenging.

DAY 8 Descent and back to Arusha

Today’s hike will take us about 4 to 5 hours to make the 4,500 feet descent to the park gate. We will check out and receive Kilimanjaro climbing certificate at the park gate office, then eat our lunch and say goodbye to our mountain staff. After lunch, we will drive through very beautiful coffee plantations and small villages of the Chaga people back to Arusha. There you will be dropped off and is the perfect time for you to take a nice swim, a hot shower, and a well-deserved celebration!
